Most employers have access to materials and resources on physical health and safety issues. Now GM@W provides a set of tools to assess and address psychological health and safety in the workplace.
A psychologically healthy and safe workplace promotes emotional well-being and presents minimal risk to employee psychological health. Psychological health consists of our ability to think, feel and behave in a manner that enables us to perform. Psychological safety is the prevention of mental injury. It stands to reason that a workplace that pays attention to the psychological health and safety of its employees, in addition to their physical health and safety, will be more successful.
The Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace commissioned GM@W - a breakthrough evidence-based tool developed by leading Canadian mental health researchers.
This tool provides Canadian organizations with proactive, comprehensive ways to assess the psychological health and safety of their specific workplaces, combined with information on appropriate solutions and a method of measuring the effectiveness of those solutions.Once you have your results from GM@W, you may want help facilitating the conversation with staff. On the Agenda is a series of interactive sessions for leaders to engage their teams in discussions about improving workplace psychological health. Slide presentations are provided for human resource professionals, managers and other leaders to facilitate discussion on workplace psychological health, addressing issues flagged by the GM@W program.
